Community Focus: South Downs Planetarium

It's out of this world!!...well, actually it's in Chichester.

We are blessed to have one of the largest planetaria in the UK right on our doorstep here in Chichester. It's a registered charity, which has been run by volunteers and astronomy enthusiasts in a dedicated building to the rear of Chichester High School since it was opened by Sir Patrick Moore in 2001.

I have visited numerous time myself, enjoying a wide variety of shows as I gaze up at the projector from the 100-seat auditorium. The talks are always beautifully and enthusiastically presented; towing the fine line between being interesting, yet educational.

So, if you're looking for somewhere to take the kids this Summer holiday that may spark their interest (or just get them off their iPhone for a couple of hours) I'd highly recommend you pop along for a visit. Be sure to pre-book online or by calling 01243 774400.
